| Couch to 5K Training Program
Do you hate to run? Yeah, me too or at least that's how I use to be until I went to my first road race. Wow, those are some fun events.
I've always been an athlete, but have always hated to run. I even quit soccer because preseason conditioning was just too much running - no fun! So, it was a little suprising to me that one race event got me pumped to try running.
But heck, where do I start? I hadn't run in ages and never really ran past 1 mile and that was back in high school when I had to do that presidential physical fitness test.
Then, I was sent a link that has forever changed my view on running. The couch to 5K training program. It takes a couch potato like myself and gets us ready for a 5k in just 9 weeks!
At first you just start out doing intervals of 30 seconds running and maybe a minute walking. But then it works you up to doing 30 minutes of straight running.
I didn't think I'd make it to week 9 but when I did, I've never been more proud of myself or felt stronger. This plan lets you build up slowly so you prevent injuries from happening. I have my first 5K coming up and I am so excited and nervous! Wish me luck!!
